I still see this problem in trunk r2327 (pre-release v1.8.0). I found that the MIDI Device thread was executing script functions instead of the MidiScriptEngine one, and fixed that in features_scriptTimers (which is awaiting merge to trunk pending approval) and that helped, but the issue is not fully resolved even then.
