Feature Request: Vocal Cut Effect

We should write a plugin to do on the fly vocal removal! It wouldn't be as good as doing it by hand but it could be so much fun to juggle the vocals between tracks.

can someone plz elaborate a little about the effect? Do u mean to just swap between the two tracks playing on either deck for a short duration of time and then back?

I believe it's just an effect where you remove whatever signal is common for both right and left channel of a stereo track. Vocals are often panned center in the mix so they will be removed using this technique. It's far from perfect though.

Invert the effect and you end up with acapella.

As mentioned in the link that Thomsen posted, This will only work on tracks where the vocals are exactly centre panned, and pretty much everything else in the (stereo) track isn't. Otherwise you get tonnes of crap left in the track, and need to post-edit a lot to get clean vocals. This is a pretty rare situation for most music. Really, for a clean effect you're probably better off trying to extract the vocals in audacity and then cleaning up what's left over, or obtaining an acapella copy of the track from elsewhere, and then just using that.

For me this effect will also useful if it is not perfect for some sort of tracks.
It could be useful even if the vocal volume is only lowered.
I know it from child's tape recorder. :-)

By the way: An Inverse Vocal cut/Music cut/Vocal extractor filter would also be nice.
