Bug Description

The vinyl control input preamp might always be on. Sean reported on mixxx-devel:

Note that I was using a Serato Scratch Live CD and set Mixxx to that option.

Nothing in the code hints at the difference here. It's possible that it could be xwax using OSS verses Mixxx using ALSA, as each audio system has its own mixer. For example, the ALSA mixer might have had your input turned up higher.

If you're bored, it's worth a shot trying both apps with the same API (OSS and OSS would work) and seeing if you get the same problem.

Thanks!

Just checked Mixxx using OSS (since OSS is all I can use in xwax) beta 4 and the problem still exists. I basically have to lower the signal to half of the volume that I need in xwax to get nice clean full circles.

Seems to work correctly in the 1.7 branch now. (I can directly connect my X2's line level output and vinyl control works properly.) Marking fixed.

I didn't test trunk. Is it fixed there too?

Maybe I misunderstand how the bug tracker is supposed to work these
days. What's the point of having top-level bugs if we're only going to
have branches in the future? (Maybe this will make more sense after
the meeting on sunday...)

The top-level is for trunk.

The branches should periodically merge trunk into them, fixing the same
bugs there.

Release branches that have bug fixes applied should periodically be
merged back to trunk, fixing the same bugs there.

I hope to God LP will auto-mark bug statuses with these merges...

Sean
