What build are you using? Please try the latest build from https://downloads.mixxx.org/builds/2.3/macOS/Mixxx-2.3-latest.dmg

Thank you for the quick response :) Unfortunately I get the same problem with this build. I might try again on my Big Sur system with the same device.

Please attach the ~/Library/Containers/org.mixxx.mixxx/Data/Library/Application Support/Mixxx/mixxx.log file after trying to configure this device.

That log does not show that you tried to use the device. Attach the log after you try to configure the device and shut down Mixxx.

I must be doing something wrong; here's the steps I am taking to configure my audio device:

1) Open Mixxx.app
2) Click "Reconfigure" after being prompted by the "Internal PortAudio Error" alert.
3) Select "Steinberg URmkII" as the Master Output device as shown in the attached screenshot.

Expected Result: I am able to play the master audio through my sound device normally.

Actual result: I am shown an "internal PortAudio error" prompt.

After closing Mixxx.app and relaunching, I am greeted by the same error message as in Step 1.

Mixxx works fine on my Big Sur system; I have had issues with audio with other applications on my current Catalina system so I have a feeling Mixxx might work if I do a fresh install of Catalina to clear out anything thats causing any problems.

I still don't see any log messages from SoundManager in that log. What version of Mixxx are you using now? In Mixxx 2.2 the log is in a different place ~/Library/Application Support/Mixxx/mixxx.log

I'm using 2.3.0-beta (build 2.3 r7960), I ran a search on my system for anything "mixxx.log" and funny enough I found one that was updated today at this path:

~/Library/Containers/org.mixxx.mixxx/Data/Library/Application\ Support/Mixxx/mixxx.log

This one has the SoundManager error you're looking for:

Thank you for attaching the log. Unfortunately the log doesn't show any more information than the error in the GUI. :/ I don't know what is going wrong. If you are having issues with other audio software then I suspect the root problem is in your system, not Mixxx or PortAudio, especially considering that other macOS users are not confirming this issue.

No worries, I will most likely end up updating to Big Sur anyways — I just completed a full backup of my Catalina system. Honestly a pretty weird problem, I experience "internal PortAudio" error occasionally on Pure Data and sound hasn't worked on csgo for months now. Thanks for your help, and thanks for writing this great software; I'm excited to try it out for real soon ✌️

Would be nice to receive your test results form Big Sur or if you are planning to stay on Catalina a little longer, update to 10.15.7 and the latest supplement updates from Apple. Was a bit surprised to read 10.15.6 in your initial report.

Sorry for the late response — I can confirm that this issue no longer occurs on either my Big Sur system or my Catalina system after updating to the latest supplement updates.
