search a track in playlists

Please add this useful feature :

When right-click on a track name, entry "search in playlists" in contextual menu.
Result is a pop-up with the list of the playlists (playlists and history) where the track appears. Selecting a playlist opens it with the selected track highlighted.

Already in Tracktor, very useful when you don't remember a transition you've made before, or when you're in lack of inspiration.

@Be: Is this really a duplicate? The feature described here is different.

We already have the feature that highlights all crates and playlists which contain the selected track in the side pane. What we don't have is a dynamic context menu with a list of all those crates or playlists for quick access. The main use case might be to select and open a history playlist.

#1277689 asks for opening a context menu for tracks loaded in decks similar to the library table(s). It should not be confused with the actual contents of this context menu. The feature described here is independent from where you are able to access the context menu.

Yes we do. The track right click context menu for the track table already shows what crates a track is in and allows you to add/remove tracks to crates. I think decoupling that right click menu from WTrackTableView so it can be reused for the deck skin widgets would fulfil this. The context menu allows adding to playlists, but it does not currently show what playlists the track is in or allow removing from playlists. Considering the reporter of the bug mentioned similar functionality in Traktor, I am guessing he may not be aware of the distinction between playlists and crates. I suspect crates are more appropriate for what is being asked for, but it would still be nice to have the same features for playlists in the right click menu.

I don't think it's very helpful to keep an issue open for every minor variation on the same idea. Launchpad is already very cluttered. If we want to have a separate Launchpad issue for adding the ability to see what playlists a track is in from the right click menu, I think that could be helpful. But this request is so similar to Bug #1277689 that I think it may as well be marked as a duplicate.

Hi,

To be more specific about my request :
The use case is to be able to quickly found previous sequences already did with a current track. In this case crates are not useful as they don't record sequences.
I didn't realise that when selecting a track the playlists where the track is present we're highlighted, it's not obvious on the skin I use (Shade). I'll propose to change the highlight color on the skin to be more efficient (I never tweaked skins, I'll have a look at this).
Then, this respond partially, once I click on a playlist I have to search init for the track I'm searching for. It could be improved in the way I proposed first or with another option : for instance ctrl+click on the playlist open the playlist with the selected track highlighted.
