Keyboard Layout Selection (Wishlist)

Could an option be added to Preferences > Interface for selecting the keyboard layout separate to Locale.

I can instantly think of two usercases for this:
 -1 You want the interface in a different language to your keyboard layout. Quite common in places I've been in Asia and Africa where people are using donated laptops which may have a random keyboard layout but obviously want to choose the language for the interface.
 -2 You want to be able to select between different layouts for different purposes. Repeatedly I find myself wanting a layout specifically for preparing tracks (settings hotcues etc) while when performing I want a completely different layout (so far the default has sufficed.)

Mixxx should read the keyboard layout from the
Os. Does this not work for you?
On which OS are you.

Mixxx currently suffers the issue that some keys cannot be mapped because the resulting string is used as input for the mapping.

This will be solved after https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/pull/1746
is merged. This PR is waiting for reviews ant tests.

I hadn't actually tested point 1, it was just a usercase which came to mind.

I see from the predecessor of the PR you linked ( https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/pull/966 ) that it will make my request completely redundant so feel free to Close this BR.

I can try and do a test of that PR for you and add my findings.... :)

I think it's a bug.

I'm on Ubuntu Studio 18.04 and I use de_de as keyboard layout while the system language is english.
In Mixxx this works for text input, but fails for the shortcuts.
For example, ö should be assigned to 'Cue' in de_de keyboard layout but it does nothing and prints "keyboard press: "??"" to the log.
