For the sake of touch friendliness and embedded operation we need quick track search to be doable from a touch keyboard (like Onboard or another). It needs to be investigated how this can be implemented in a desktop environment independent way, or in a user configurable way (ex: commands to make the onscreen keyboard popup and retreat).
Ideially, the impementation should not be specific to Gnome, Mate, KDE or other DE but rather done in a standard way (if such thing exists) or user configurable way (if such thing exists).

Qt has this QML based solution: /doc.qt. io/qt-5/ qtvirtualkeyboa rd-index. html

A widget based approach is described here: /stackoverflow. com/questions/ 18979015/ onscreen- keyboard- in-qt-5

I have no experience with both unfortunately.
