Parking decks instead of samplers

Bug Description

I rarely use samplers, actually never in a live mix.
But I do abuse samplers to hold tracks for later on.

I'd rather replace the samplers with Parking decks that only show the cover art, title & artist.
Those decks are reminders only and not for preview, so no controls or visuals are necessary at all which would make the decks very light on RAM and CPU, right?
I guess this can work if Parking Decks/Samplers are selected like a color scheme, to reload the skin when the option is changed.

While parking decks are supposed tobe super minimal something like a moodbar lp:1074392 would be nice.

Controller situation:
* press click/turn Trax encoder to pick a track from the tracks table
* turn to choose parking deck (highlighted in skin)
* press Trax again to drop track to selected parkign slot
(* selection timeout to abort parking mode?)

unplayable tracks should be refused, tough. But the check requires them to be loaded like in a regular deck, right? what's the peformance impact?

Does it make more sense to abuse the [Sampler] groups to just strip down the samplers in the skin?

Currently we have already two possible solutions we may improve:
* The AutoDJ playlist, which is able to auto load a parked track.
* Samplers

We may think of an independent new solution for parked tracks. But for now I think it should be possible to improve the current solution for your use case.

I don't mind the performace impact until we have reports that it is an issue.

Alternatives could be also a preview deck history or a special stash playlist we can use like "git stash"

This can be a skin option, but the overview waveform and preview option can be handy. So is this really a point.

Cant we implement the suggested track loading feature for samples and we are done?

A Preview deck history is a nice idea, but not suitable for quick access. Like using the AutoDJ playlist this would require to switch library features which is slow/complicated.

What I'm after is a quick access solution:
quick parking, quick recalling.

Yes, we could use the samplers for that but they are not unified across skins. They show the title only, or they have an additional info/controls row.
Actually, for me cover art and title/artist are the most important info for my use case, as Parking decks are more for tracks that you instantly recognize so info like BPM, key, duration, overview are really not required IMO. Maybe show that in expanded parking rows which also has the preview option?

Basically tis boils down to lp:1743109 "unify Sampler interface in all skins"

I agree, if samplers can serve this function for you I think that's good enough and there's no need to create a new, special deck type just for this. Samplers should be showing the information you describe -- even "cover art" could be an icon that makes it easy to remember what the sample is.
