That looks like a problem with your graphics driver. First, are you on the latest for your system? Second, try switching Mixxx's waveforms to Software rendering to work around the problem and let us know if that helps. (If you can't even start Mixxx, edit your mixxx.cfg file and set 'WaveformType 10'. then try starting it again.)
Thank you for such a rapid response. I do not need waveforms really so as
instructed I selected empty with no rendering other than overview. I am
using Tango skin at the moment. Is there anyway to completely remove any
waveform graphics with this skin or other skins available? I use MIXX as an
auto player of sorts in the background.
I have made the above changes for the moment and have auto DJ running with
all my other applications as a test.

In Tango, you can click the waveform icon in the top bar to hide the waveforms. Alternatively you can drag the splitter to resize the waveforms and move it all the way to the top.
