option to fade out effects post-Vol-fader only, so Crossfader can cut again

Bug Description

Could we have an option in Effect preferences that allows to toggle post-fader for the crossfader?

The new post-fader effects are a great tool, fading out decks with the Volume fader is fun! Though, it's irritating that the crossfader can't cut anymore. Especially when I have a sharp curve set, and I throw the crossfader fully to one side, I feel powerless when the actually killed deck's effect is still audible. If crossfader would fully kill the decks, it could be used to stutter-cut that fading out effect/deck.

Why not just turn off the effect or turn down the dry/wet knob?

It's about quickly cutting the effect, while being able to quickly bring it back, or kill a deck in case the effect distorts, clips or just disturbs.
Interaction with Dry/Wet knob -like any knob- is way slower that a button or crossfader cut.
When I turn off the effect, resurrecting an echo tail is possible but way to complicated.

Ok, so we actually running into the situation that Traktor also has, the need to configure the routing. We want originally avoid this. It would be great, if we can add rons0's valid use case in a smarter way.
From this point of view, it is a regression compared to Mixxx 2.0

You may put the echo to the quick effect knob. But there you cannot access the single echo parameter.

Let's summarize the issue:
You use a x-Fader for instance cutting like a scratch DJ, this does not work if the echo effect is applied to a track.

The post fader effect feature is also only audible, if you use fast cuts as well. Also with the use of the xFader.

So we have both valid cases, which can be even valid in the same set. I cannot think about a way to auto-detect this.

So we may consider to move the xfader always to the pre fader effect position without a config option. This allows both, pre fader and post fader behaviour, at the same time. Each with a dedicated control.

What do you think?

Echo on QuickEffect knob lacks the echo trail because it's pre-fader.

Yes, I'd like to have the benefits of both post- and pre-fader behaviour:
- post-fader for Volume fader, so you can also apply a certain ramping when turning down a track
- pre-fader for xFader to cut fast, to use it as toy (stuttering echo) or as emergency brake in case the effect tail is disturbing

Post Fader should mean Post CHANNEL fader but still Pre CROSSFADER. This would solve the problem above. It's the way physical mixing desks with effects work such as the Pioneer DJM range or Numark with the Chaos Pad built it and is what any seasoned DJ will expect to experience.
