Bug Description

i am using Arch linux and Mixxx buld from git source [release.2.0.0.r5185.g405b5323e build yesterday]. As usb sticks or external hardrives for exemple, don't appear in in "removable devices" menu, I scroll to the right mounting point using "/" menu but i have to shut down Mixxx two or three times to make my usb stick visible.
Then, when i want to assign /run/media/[my user name] (the mounting point in Arch linux for removables devices) to "quick links" menu by right clickink on it but it makes Mixxx crash.
Same thing when i delete "documents" or "desktop" menu from "quick links" (i do not store music there!).

I can confirm a crash, in case you have removed a quick link before.

I think we should reserve the Critical priority for bugs that make Mixxx or a major feature unusable. While this bug is nasty, it can be worked around (by adding the desired location to the main library search path), so I don't think it needs the Critical priority.

...but he mentioned that Mixxx crashes and a crash is always critical!

Be (be.ing) wrote :

IMO a crash is not necessarily critical if its cause is predictable and can be worked around. Yes it is a big deal when the user first encounters it, but if they can learn to avoid it and still accomplish their use case, it's not critical.

In the past we put everything that can stop a party to critical.
Critical does not mean that it is a blocker for a release though.
A crash, even in rare condition can stop a party.

What's the point of a bug tracker if it doesn't help us see what needs to be done for a release?

Daniel Schürmann (daschuer) wrote :

The bugtracker can only express a wish of the developer team. If we move to a deadline based release process, we have finally to move even critical bugs to a next release, if we did not find a contributor for it in time.

Uwe Klotz (uklotzde) wrote :

The crash is fixed now.

I still don't see any removable devices on Fedora, even ones that are already muonted when Mixxx is started. But I think this is a different issue.
