Bug Description

Shade is my currently favorite skin and I use it a lot.

The library and the tree panes resize, but the decks do not. This results in cramped waveform views even on larger screens, and just in general looks awkward.

System for this is Ubuntu, btw.

bug #1215022 is rather old and has a different focus reading the discussion.
I like to keep this bug instead and discuss remaining tasks.

It seems to me that fixing this would require at least several months of redesign and refactoring.

@RAWRR thank you for the reminder. Great to read that there is an other Shade fan out there.
There is some work stacked up to make Shade fit for Mixxx 2.1
Do you have fun to support us doing this?

You can do this by review and test upcoming changes or change Shade on your own and propose these changes on Github.

Is this bug Fixed for you if we dynamically change the width of the deck area stretching the waveforms only?

I am considering to rearrange Shade a bit for the new effect controls. Do you use effects?

What makes Shade to your favorite compared to the other skins? What feature / design should be kept during a Shade update, to not make it worse

This makes the Decks scalable, mainly an expanding waveform and more space for possible truncated artist or title.

@RAWRR does this match your expectations?

What else should be done to fix this bug?

Sure. Problems with other components could end up as different bugs.

Yes, but not constantly. Effects are not a major priority for me.

Shade is a favorite because of it's simplicity and directness. I do not like clutter.

Also, I'm not a fan of the updates to LateNight and Deere; I don't like mustard yellow much and looking at that color for several hours is not palatable. In general LateNight and Deere are disappointing in other ways as well, for instance the cramped and rearranged waveforms layouts.

Shade is the skin that has always been basic and reliable, hasn't morphed into some completely different thing lacking previous features, and is simple enough compared to the others that it can be used as an excellent starting point for skin modding.

so:
-simplicity, a streamlined interface
-subsequently, a good base for modding
