Mixxx freezes on close, can't play or load music after Linux suspend

After my system is set to suspend, on resumption Mixxx refuses to load tracks to decks and fails to play anything currently loaded.

The Play/Pause button changes colour as it should, however the waveform and position markers don't move and there is no audio output.
Attempting to load tracks causes Mixxx to show "Loading..." in the deck forever until closed.
Attempting to close Mixxx by clicking the window Close button freezes Mixxx, and an application not responding dialog appears. Mixxx can still be terminated in console using Ctrl+C.

System info:
- OS: Arch Linux i686 (32 bit)
- Kernel: Linux 4.8.4-1-ARCH
- DE: KDE5, KWin window manager
- CPU: AMD Sempron SI-42 @ 2.1Ghz
- GPU: AMD/ATI RS780M [Mobility Radeon HD 3200]
- RAM: 1763MiB (2GB)

ALSA "default" audio output. No external soundcards or equipment, using laptop speakers. Logs show nothing abnormal.
