Some albums are published on multiple disks and tagged as such. Currently, there is no library column for disc number, nor is there a field in the window brought up by right clicking a track in the library and going to Properties. This can lead to confusion when seeing multiple tracks from the same album with the same track number but different titles.

+1. It would be kind of annoying to actually have a disc column though. Could it just be prefixed to the track number, if it exists? e.g. track number shows "1-8", "2-12" if there is a disc number, and stays as it currently is if there is no disc number.

I agree, it would be annoying to have a column in the library where horizontal space is precious just for disc number, which is only relevant relatively rarely. I propose these as potential formats to display both in one column:
disc: track
(disc) track

for example
1: 8
2: 12
(1) 8
(2) 12

We might be able to re-use the track number code for parsing, not really a big deal. Introducing a combined column for displaying and editing this data might be more work.

The task can be divided into separate steps, first import/export of tags and updating the database schema, followed by the UI stuff.

The UI could be a bit tricky to design. I was thinking about making sorting the library by track number implicitly sort by disc number too. Having a column in my library table that is only used for a few albums would be annoying.

Disc number tags are supported by __EXTRA_METADATA__ but neither imported into the database nor visible/editable in the UI.
