Bug Description
File menu not positioned correctly. The Menu surface is larger than it appears - it has a transparent boundary around it (for shadow?) - and the whole surface is being positioned within the parent.

I only see this behaviour on xenial, yakkety seems fine. So I think its likely a gtk-mir issue that has been fixed since 16.04.
