Bug Description
In the indicator-applet, the volume control applet does not autostart. Guides are available to fix this; however, the script should take this into account. (Looking into ways to fix this.)

Volume control applet is enabled through indicator-applet. The problem I experienced was because I don't use indicator-applet. D'oh.
