Bug Description

The combo button in the URLbar (IMHO) is not really helpful. Upon clicking, a large list of websites is shown that I'm not really sure what they are. Are those bookmarks? Are they sites I visited recently? Are they sites I visit often?

But it also takes up the space of almost a whole other toolbar item. So I think it should really just be removed.

Doing so would fix this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/midori/+bug/739321

Agreed; in most cases the dropdown is even bigger than the window itself! I understand the thinking behind providing a place to show recent or common sites, but I think a new tab page really is a better place for that.

I too think it really would be best to just be removed.

Frequently visited pages would have been the answer, albeit not at all optimised for being practically useful. And as Cassidy says, the speed dial is more suitable for this functionality.

I removed the arrow now, or more exactly, changed the entry to no longer be a combo box but a plain entry. This leaves arrow up/ down without function for now (same as the coopedition).
