Hello !

I think the bug comes from the import bookmarks function.
I try to import bookmarks from Firefox, Arora, Epiphany, xbel file and html file -> impossible to get bookmarks sorted in alphabetically asc order (both subfolders and titles)...

The bookmarks import function works well. bookmarks are sorted by „uri“ in midori_bookmarks_read_from_db () in file /panels/midori-bookmarks.c.

The query code is unified in midori_array_query now, so the sorting is consistent. However sqlite doesn't produce alphabetic order. I haven't found an explanation so far.

I have a similar problem, where the bookmarks are sorted in reverse alphabetical order in the Bookmarks menu, but are OK (i.e. alphabetically sorted) in the left pane (F9). I've noticed that midori adds an unicode character (202a IIRC) before the title, so imported bookmarks that lack this character may destroy the alphabetical ordering (straight or reverse).
There is a workaround for this problem, i.e. change "title DESC" into "title ASC" in midori/midori-array.c. With this the bookmarks are sorted in straight alphabetical order in the Bookmarks menu, but are in reverse order in the left pane.
This problem is still present in midori 0.4.7.

Yeah, I’m aware of the reverse order. With the next bookmarks patch, a few things will change and this should be fixed.

well, it's now April 19, 2014 and I just decided to try Midori after a long hiatus. I imported my bookmarks from Firefox and in the bookmarks panel, they are sorted in reverse order. Oddly, if you click the 'New folder' button and then the pulldown in the resulting popup (to choose a folder in which to place the new folder), the list of folders is sorted correctly.

In a new Midori session, bookmarks are now sorted correctly. The reverse sorting I observed (as described in my previous comment) occurred in the session in which I did the import. So this bug is less serious than I thought, but still a bug.

I will also observe that going to this page to add the comment I just did, I clicked the 'Post Comment' button and nothing happened after several tries. I brought up epiphany, went to this page, logged in, copy-pasted the comment and submitted it successfully.

The maintenace is now gone, and that version is too old.
