Bug Description

Midori web browser does not allow one to change the default search provider from the address bar.
I attemted to change from "duck duck go" to "google" by right clicking in the address bar and then scrol down and select the option of "manage search engines" to open the dialoge window.
Then I used the up and down buttons to move google to the top of the list and also selected "use as default". I therefore believe that midori isnt working quite right yet

Midiori also doesnt allow one to change the default download path. I clicked on the spanner icon in the top bar, then I selected "preferences" at the bottom of the menu, clicked on the "behavior" tab in the dialogue window to access the setting i needed to change. There is box which says "Save downloaded files to" where upon one SHOULD be able to select the default directory to save to which was set as "user" When i wanted to change this to "desktop" It first appears to work but as soon as one presses the close button and then re opens this setting later on it becomes obvios that it has not remembered the setting and has gone back to "user".

I am wondering if these two problems are related like the settings are stored somewhere where they dont have permision to change or some thing

I am using midori 0.4.3

Hello William! I can confirm that what you are trying to achieve works in Midori 0.5.11.

Midori 0.5.11 is the latest public build and is what I am currently using and everything is working fine.

Unfortunately, I cannot confrim if or how it works in Midori 0.4.3. I also want to note, I am not a staff member.

CHANGING THE SEARCH ENGINE ON 0.5.11

If you switch to Midori 0.5.11 and change the search engine, you can right click the search icon inside of the search box and select or add Google then click it and click "set as default".

CHANGING THE DOWNLOAD PATH/LOCATION ON 0.5.11

Click on the "Menu" button to open the list and go all the way down to "Preferences". From there go to "Behavior". Once you are there you should see near the bottom of the box "Save downloaded files to:". From here you can choose or add a new location for your files to save to.

I hope this helps, even if it is a different version of Midori. Remember, all this is possible and working in the 0.5.11 Build.
