Bug Description

When typing text in the url bar, I have no problem using the numpad to enter digits, as well as in any other window of my WM...

As soon as I try the same thing (entering digits/numbers with the numpad) in any text field/text area inside the page content, e.g. a mail through GMail's web interface, or a search request in Bing, the numpad keys behave like arrows : they move the cursor in the textfield/textarea.

I've tried activating/deactivating the numpad with the numpad activator key, but no change at all...

Hi again,

Now I just discovered that when I try to select some text with SHIFT_L+arrows, the behaviour is inverted: using up-arrow goes down and down-arrow goes up !!!!! WTF ????

My X keyboard configuration is perfect for me... Why is Midori insisting in using a wrong and non-personalized keyboard mapping, when a mapping that is correct and fine-tuned for the user exists in the system?

Hi again again,

Now I discovered that the mouse is also not working correctly... When I select sme text with the mouse and try to paste it with the middle button somewhere else (i.e. use the classic & very useful GNU/Linux copy-paste style), nothing happens!

Enough is Enough ! This software is just crap...

The solution: sudo apt-get remove midori !!!!

Please don't report different issues in the same bugreport.

It makes it harder to respond and to change status of those cause there are different issues under one bugreport.
Please file them one by one. It is not much more work but helps us a ton.

That said i cannot reproduce any of those issues on my machines. Obviously nothing like that would be left broken on purpose.

Can you share the output of about:version and state what (version of) operating system you use?
If you happen to use 0.4.3 version please try to upgrade, it was rather buggy release and we fixed maaany issues since then but unfortunately that is the one that many people will see first because debian package is so old ;/

Hi,

Thanks for your answer...

First of all, I did not create separate bug reports because they don't
appear separate to me. To me, such a behaviour (mouse+kb behaviour nit
the one configured in Xorg) seems to be related with not using the
Xorg's configuration. Which is one single problem.

Second, you're right I'm using 0.4.3. If it's so buggy, it's a pity
this is the default version under Debian/Ubuntu/Mint ;{

Cheers

GM

Hi again,

I've just tried version:
Midori 0.5.7 ((null))

Same problem again:
- Numpad not working and activable
- Simple mouse copy-paste does not work.

I'm using Awesome as a WM, but this should not be a problem since my
Xorg configuration is correct and works for ALL the other software on
my machine.

I've also found 2 new bugs in 5 minutes of usage... So I'm sorry, but
I think I'll stick to not using Midori :[

Hello,

I've finally found that playing with Shift+Num_Lock, then Num_Lock has
made the NumPad work correctly in Midori.

I still don't now what it does and why things do not work before
having to do this... but it works !

I remember playing with setxkbmap -option keypad:pointerkeys some
years ago, not sure if it is related...

Can you try with midori --plain ? if this happens then it is nothing in midori code itself.
I dont think we do anything that changes behaviour of keys so this should just work, seem like a local misconfiguration maybe.

Do you use some fancy/exotic input method? But still it should work fine...so not really sure what is happening here.
