This looks like network error or maybe broken instalation. Without more information it is hard to speculate

I have the same issue.

I installed Midori upon suggestiong form a friend. I used Linux Mint download & install instructions form the Midori website. ie. : by adding repository and installing the same:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:midori/ppa && sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install midori

Fire up the browser and hit the most common www.google.com the browser returns :
"Cannot resolve hostname (www.google.com)"

This is happening for anything. This appears to be an issue with DNS resolution for Midori alone. As I have Firefox and Chromium, both work fine. Network is managed by Network-Manager in Cinammon Desktop Environment.

I have tried by changing the default nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf in vain. I have even set proxy settings to "No Proxy", it did not work either !
Wonder where it is digging for dns/hostname.

One last try..
I will uninstall the one installed by apt and choose .deb from the site. Let's see if that works!

That did not work either. The browser looks a bit different now. version: midori 0.5.8
Sorry I didn't check version on apt installation.

There is surely some issue in DNS lookup.
