"Always use my font choices" should not have to include "Fixed-width Font Family"

Bug Description

I prefer to set the font to be used on all web pages as Arial, however if I do this then I must also use the "Fixed-width Fonts" which results in ugly mono fonts being used through out web pages, in the search bar of google, etc. There should be a way to just use the font you desire throughout every aspect of a web page, like so with Firefox.

Are these settings still in Midori? I thought Appearance prefs got dropped.

Does this mean that choosing fonts will be taken out at some point? If so, why on Earth would you do that?

Is there some other way of changing from the default fonts to some with a greater range of characters, like Liberation, Deja Vu, Droid etc?

Update: it seems that fonts do change in GTK2 but not in GTK3.
