As Siegfried Gevatter first replied "I don't think most users have a problem with that." I have to say that has been shown to now be an issue for many. This is a severe issue in that anyone hampered by it will be hit early on in their experience, and have such a high degree of getting turned off by Ubuntu that they will most likely not bother to file a bug report on their way on/back to another OS. If you can't easily move windows around then you will not use Ubuntu, period. You are downright less productive, besides annoyed.

Now some of us have been lucky with first experiences on another PC, or just decided perhaps there must be a setting or workaround. But let me assure you that ALT-Middleclick is not obvious (but great feature!), and dragging a window edge is the expected fail-safe since likely the dawn of a resizeable "window". Also, on my laptop I do not have a middle click, and pressing both buttons doesn't work or is too hard. The cursor shakes from my fingertip rolling on the touchpad and while not as bad, it is a bit of an inconvenience hitting the target as it has been on my high resolution desktop.

In short, this affects many, and turns off many more to Ubuntu. This really needs to be fixed before Lucid, as I had hoped with Karmic, since waiting another 6 months is really killing who knows how many potential users. There is nothing like showing off this slick, new, fast and secure OS and then I can't move the window, right when I had my friend hooked. I almost hear the sad losing sound from the Price is Right! Dun da da duuhhhh, DUUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!! Their faces go from :) to ,:| .

If anything, I hope I have been constructive in getting the needed attention to this highly underrated issue, for the future of Ubuntu.
