Bug Description

I have attached a video which shows the problem.
As it seems something is going wrong with rendering in RevengeOfTheTitans and other apps.
I also noticed the problem with WorldOfGoo for example.

The flickering always happens not only in fullscreen mode.
It also happens in unity2d.

system information

Revenge Of The Titans flickers from time to time.
I have noticed this bug since I started using
ubuntu precise beta1.

Here is a video that demonstrates the problem.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/955277/+attachment/2870890/+files/video-2012-03-14-17-52-19.mp4

The flickering only happens with Revenge Of The Titans.
If I switch to window mode the effect is the same. So it doesn't affect
the full screen.

I also have attached my system information.

If you need more information please let me know.

Looks like geometry being used for some effect that is not working properly. If you downgrade to mesa 7.11 do you still see the same effect?

Just for the record, lately I also have seen the problem with WorldOfGoo.
But as it seems with RevengeOfTheTitans the flickering appears quite often.

Next Week I should have some time, so If I can help to debug this, please let me know.
I would really like to see this fixed for precise.

There is a flickering bug fixed by the mesa 8.0.3 release. Check the bug report and see if you think it may be the same issue:

  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44701

If it is (and perhaps even if it isn't), it may be worthwhile to test out the 8.0.3 release. I've set up a PPA with this release for testing:

  https://launchpad.net/~bryce/+archive/mesa-803

Install that PPA, reboot, and give a go at reproducing the flickering. If we can confirm 8.0.3 fixes the bug we may be able to get it SRU'd for precise.

I am sorry the problem is still present with your ppa. I also think that the linked report (bugzilla) is a different issue.
I have taken a look at the screenshots and they look different in comparison to my problem.
As it seems there are only textures flickering (missing).
In my case the »GL content« is corrupted and flickering/flashing.
