It would be nice if DaD mails the last uploader when a new merge is available, and maybe when it's not anymore.

Also, it might be interesting to mail when somebody adds a comment.

That may be a good idea, but I'm afraid a lot of people will complain, either because they don't use/"trust" DaD and prefer MoM, or just because they don't want to receive "mergemail" in addition to their bugmail. A solution would be to have a list of people who want to be subscribed.
Otherwise, it should be quite easy to implement.

Yes, a white list is a good option.

Maybe put a field in the top of the page to intro your mail, and send a confirmation mail?

If that's too difficult, then we can just ping DaD's maintainers to add us.

Perhaps there could also be an option to not only receive mails for those packages where you are the last uploader, but also for those package where you are a bug contact in Launchpad.

That'd be awesome, yes, although I don't know how complicate it would be to
implement it, whereas for the new packages should be trivial.

MoM actually supports this, we just need something to keep the subscriptions list current.

Might be worth explicitly doing it in syndicate.py?
