Bug Description

The problem is well known and well described in the GE community, I have been hit by this problem myself now on 9.10. For some reason I was unaffected on 9.04.

The best description of the problem is Zimmers comment on
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/earth/thread?tid=72b851d55f188cea&hl=en

The best solution/workaround is pete.dawgg comment in same thread.

I have made a very simple patch that solves the problem for medibuntu googleearth.

Hope you incorporate this patch in the medibuntu package.

The patch works for me, thanks, and even solves this other bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/medibuntu/+bug/402787

I think both bugs are connected (if not a duplicate).

Hello VPablo,

I'm a newbie on Linux and I don't know how to apply this patch.

Can you reply with a step-by-step on how to install the patch?

Many thanks!

Yes, of course. I don't know how to apply patches trough the patch tool but is easy to open the patch file and follow the instructions.

In this case you only have to:
1º- $ sudo gedit /usr/bin/googleearth
2º- Put your pasword
3º- Add the line "export LC_NUMERIC=en_GB.UTF-8" after the line "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib32/googleearth:"${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}""
4º- Save the file

And you're done.

Once again thanks!

I had already tried to open the file with gedit, not by the command line and the problem was that I wasn't able to save the file forgot the sudo :D
