encoding problems

Bug Description

I just downloaded and put into use the mediawiki.el (2.2.4).

Generally it works fine with a local mediawiki (1.15.1) I have running on my machine.

However, I encounter some problems with “Umlaute “ and the like.

My mysql data base for the wiki has utf-8 coding as has emacs. However, all umlautes etc. get totally screwed up, when I upload (C-x C-s) an edited page.

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it? (Changing the emacs coding to latin1 is no option).

Thanks for the quick reply,

The emacs version is 24.1 on Win7 system.
on emacs the "Umlaute" are just fine, in mediawiki they are screwed up.

Usually I'm in Linux, but today I'm using Emacs in Win7. The emacs I'm using is installed from Cygwin and "C-h v emacs-version RET" shows "24.0.96.1".

Where is yours installed from? (still need to test it in my windows copy first).
