I paste a 350mb video on my Ubuntu phone (mako). While the file was being pasted a thumbnail appeared in the video scope. Since the video was never fully copied the thumbnail is black.

I'm curious how the mediascanner is setup to do thumbnailing. Does it seek a certain static amount of time into the movie to capture a frame, or does it take the first frame (I wouldn't guess it'd do this)?
Omer, are you that it didn't just catch a black frame by random chance? I know the mediaplayer-app's scene preview thumbnailing has support to detect and skip purely black (and I think white) frames.
