eject fails when screen is locked

Bug Description
I have "Eject disc when ripping completes" checked.
When the screen is locked, Max.app is unable to eject the disk and displays the following dialog box:
"An error occurred on device disk1." "Unable to unmount the disc."
Furthermore, the encode won't start as long as the error dialog box is shown.
This is on 10.6, but I have observed the same error on 10.5.
