flac -> apple lossless conversion results in broken files

Bug Description

I'm using Max 0.9.1 on Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

When converting from flac to Apple Lossless (core audio), the resulting file is broken: it has hissing or clicking noises about 1 second out of every 30s, and about half of them are bad enough so iTunes skips them after about a minute. I had this problem with every file; i tried about 10.

I haven't tried converting from other formats to Apple Lossless, but converting the same files from flac to WAV (libsndfile) worked flawlessly (albeit losing meta data).

What format are the FLACs? I just tried with a 44.1/16-bit FLAC and didn't have any issues playing it back with QuickTime Player on 10.6.2.

I have the same problem, ish.

INoise throughout the files converted to apple lossless.

No matter which other lossless file it is converting from.

It ONLY happens with the files 'higher' than standard (48/24bit or 96/24/bit)

Using iTunes to do the rip to lossless works. Using Max to rip results in failure. Conversion from FLAC to lossless fails.
