I am really considering removing the symbolic icons from the pathbar, they look so lame compared to the non symbolic ones. and not implemented in every themes... just a waste of time in my opinion.

They don't seem to currently be respecting transparency in Marlin, which does make them look pretty bad.

But I definitely wouldn't make any judgments based on the adoption of symbolic icons at this point. GNOME is really pushing them and this has been a feature that icon designers have been waiting for a long time to have.
