Bug Description

Hello !

I tried to install Marionnet with the installation script marionnet_from_scratch. The script is very well designed and manages on the whole to install Marionnet and its dependencies correctly on Debian 12 and Debian 11.
But once in Marionnet when I try to launch a Machine, the VM's linux kernel seems to crash and not start the machine correctly.
I tried to install Marionnet in the same way on Debian 11 and everything works without any problem.
I've tried downgrading the linux kernel version of Debian 12 to 5.10 (instead of 6.1) but nothing changes, the machines no longer boot.

Unfortunately I don't have any more information than that about the problem, I have some screenshots and error logs as required to open a bug report but not the skills to debug the program.

All the best

Hi,

I see no other solution than to regenerate new kernels and virtual machine images with the new Debian 12 kernels and with the new version of GCC, and then package all this in a new version of Marionnet. Probably the recently compiled Linux host kernels do a check that before was not performed, thus blocking the startup of older UML kernels.

Thanks for your report.

Hi,

I have the same problem. However, for what I understand, the machine seems to actually run: it can be Stopped from the GUI, we can see the UML linux processes...
So I suspect it may be just the console that fails? I'm not sure what/where to look, any suggestion on how to track down the issue is welcome.

regards
