There is no Persian l10n for Mailman. Thus, whatever language is chosen for the list is not Persian and does not have a character set in Mailman such as UTF8 which supports Persian characters.

I am marking this as wishlist as the real solution would be a Persian l10n.

Changed in mailman:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Confirmed

if it is problem with the character set, so why is it only in digest and archive and not in the normal emails received from the list?

I am in some l10n teams. So I can help with that If you really think that it is the problem with the character set.
would you plz tell me what should be done, or where to start from?
Thanks

Actual list messages are sent with character set and encoding essentially as received. Archives and plain (but not MIME) format digests go through a "scrubbing" process to remove and store aside any non plain text attachments and to flatten the message(s) into a single plain text message. Part of this process converts the message into the character set of the list's language. If your list's language is English, this is us-ascii.

If your lists are on your own server, it is possible to change the character set for English to UTF-8. You can do this by putting the line

add_language('en', 'English (USA)', 'utf-8')

in mm_cfg.py and restarting Mailman.

If you would like to work on a Persian translation of Mailman, we would welcome your efforts. You can start by going to <http://wiki.list.org/display/DEV/Internationalization>.
