Bug Description
Jitterbug-Id: 159

Version: 1.0
OS: not sure
Note: I'm submitting this on behalf of our system administrator, so I'm
not
sure about the underlying versions of Python and OS. I'd ask, but he is a
bit
pre-occupied at the moment. :-(
While beta-testing Mailman, about two versions prior to the first official
release, I reported that generated passwords were including ambiguous
characters
that were difficult to differentiate with some fonts. I believe that the
resolution is documented in bug #41 under "requests".
However, either that fix has "slipped out", or it needs to be
enhanced further
to exclude at least the following characters:
l ("ell") vs. 1 ("one")
O ("oh") vs. 0 ("zero")
This isn't a comprehensive list -- there might be others that should be
excluded
that currently are not. I encounted the latter one in the above list
today.

Mailman 2.0 final will probably have a more user friendly password
generating algorithm.
