MN can't save pop3 password in keyring

Bug Description
Using a pre-release of Xubuntu Precise Pagolin LTS with alse Maté desktop installed.
Mail Notification can not install the POP3 password in the keyring.
I tried several options:
- only start up the Maté keyring
- only start up the GNOME keyring
- installed extra files that might be needed by those keyrings
Nothing helped.
