This is happening at my end also. I installed it and could never get to it. In other words, the app never runs. I am desperately looking for a solution.

Hi Alok,

Good news, i just solved the problem.

The problem is that mail-notification tries to load the icon stock_mail.png, which (I don't know why) has disappeared from the system when I updated to Ubuntu 10.10. The easy way to fix it is to copy any other icon you like and name it stock_mail.png. You have to do it in the folder /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/status/ and I have used the existing icon stock_mail-unread.png. Actually I have copy it in the 16x16, 24x24 and 32x32 status folders, just in case.

Once you have copied the icon you must run "sudo gtk-update-icon-cache" and MN should work.

I hope it works for you.

Hi Dakebusi,

I followed the above steps but but no good.

Sometimes if the app starts luckily, I get the message "host not found" prefixed with the mailbox name.

I also tried running it in the terminal as mail-notification -i and it displays the following output but no icon:

** INFO: <email address hidden>/Xxxxx: retrieving feed from https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom
** INFO: <email address hidden>/Xxxxxx: retrieving feed from https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom
** INFO: <email address hidden>/Xxxxxx: feed retrieved successfully (378 bytes)
** INFO: <email address hidden>/Xxxxxx: feed retrieved successfully (383 bytes)

Note: I have masked the mailbox names.

I would really love to see such a nice and beautiful app work.
