M-N 5.4 won't compile

./jb build gives this error message before it does anything at all:

build/jbsrc/jb: symbol lookup error: build/jbsrc/jb: undefined symbol: g_once_init_enter_impl

Can you tell me what this means? (I am more used to the autoconf/automake strategy
for compiling programs.)

./jb configure works perfectly.

Oh, I forgot to say that I'm running Scientific Linux 5.0, basically idetntical to RHEL 5.0.
