Bug Description

I have Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 2.3 64bit. I have one or more Gmail accounts. I have set the properties for the Status Icon to Open the Mail Reader. Instead, it opens the Gmail Send a Message. Gmail has been set to be my Default Email Client. The other issue is that the number shown on the Status Icon is almost always 20, and usually does not go below 19.

UE2.3 is based upon Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04.

I have found that the number appearing on the Mail Notification icon is accurate until the number of Unread messages, in my Inbox, reaches a critical number. I am not sure what that number is, but I had several hundred Unread messages and when I marked them all as Read, the number that appears on the Mail Notification icon seems to be accurate, now.

The problem is that when I set the properties for the Status Icon to Launch the Mail Reader, it would launch Evolution. I followed a procedure to make Gmail my default email client, however, now, when I click on the Status Icon, it launches a Gmail Compose a Message instead of opening the Gmail Inbox.
