Bug Description

Hello folks,
I just installed mail-notification inside Ubuntu Jaunty and got a strange problem with the popup:
- The test popup is in the correct position
- The real popup is shown like a gnome windows in the middle of the screen..

Using 5.4 and libnotify 0.4.5

Thank you very much for your help

Same problem here!
The strange thing is that this happens only with gmail account.
I have a pop3 account and it works like a charm, with the notification popups in the correct position. The gmail account, instead, notify new mails with a standalone window in the middle of the screen.

p.s.Luca, even though you blurred your the email address in the image, it is perfectly readable... I suggest you to reupload another image with a stronger blurring on the email address.

Here is a comment on this issue that I mistakenly put in bug #368574:

Now that Ubuntu 9.04 has been released, I am able to see new mail notifications. But they do not appear as toaster popups in Ubuntu's new notification system as they should. Instead each notification appears as a dialog window.

It seems that Ubuntu's new notification system does not support action buttons in notifications. When a notification does contain action buttons, the new system falls back to displaying a dialog window. Here is an explanation of this behavior in another project:

http://projecthamster.wordpress.com/2009/04/01/ubuntu-jaunty-and-the-new-notification-sweetness/

It looks like the reason notifications behave differently for different types of mail accounts is that mail notification does not display action buttons in notices from all types of mail accounts.

It looks like you can get the toaster-popup notifications working with a Gmail account properly by removing the popup actions from gconf:

As I understand it, this will prevent Mail Notification from displaying action buttons in notifications from Gmail accounts. The downside is that you will no longer get action buttons in notifications from Gmail accounts.
