I just installed the latest Fedora 12 with KDE 4.3 and I'm having a number of problems, which I think are all related to the originally reported bug:

- The systray icon doesn't get updated when new mail comes in, even though the pop-ups do appear.
- Right-clicking the icon doesn't display the contextual menu. Sometimes I do get the menu once immediately after login, but that's all.

Also, when I try to start the application with -i from the console to get some debugging info, I do see the fetching of the e-mail, but the systray icon doesn't appear anymore.

I should also point out that the application works fine under Gnome.

Please let me know what further information I should provide.

I have exactly the same problem as proteus... but only on one PC.
Both my PCs are running Gentoo with KDE 4.3 and mail-notification 5.4.
My desktop works just fine, my laptop has this problem. I can't for the life of me figure out what the difference is that is causing this problem, but if anyone can suggest anything, I'll give it a whirl.

could you check if the values in

gconf-editor /apps/mail-notification

are the same? perhaps its just a wrong configuration in the preferences
