Bug Description

After a period of running mail-notification, it crashes with the following messages:

Cannot access memory at address 0x84
Cannot access memory at address 0x84

Bug-buddy produces a reasonable backtrace (attached). The culprit appears to be mn_mailbox_remove_stale_messages_cb, but I don't know how to read these traces very well.

Running mail-notification with -i produces the following:

** INFO: GMail: > a011 FETCH 808,809 UID
** INFO: GMail: < * 808 FETCH (UID 7049)
** INFO: GMail: < * 809 FETCH (UID 7050)
** INFO: GMail: < a011 OK Success
Cannot access memory at address 0x84
Cannot access memory at address 0x84

If there's any further information I can provide, tests I can run, or patches I can test, please just let me know... 5:)

I've found the bug. I will fix it and release 5.3 one of these days. Thanks for the info.

Thanks very much for the speedy response!

Once you've fixed it, is there any chance you could post the patch here so that I can apply it locally?
I use mail-notification daily, and having been without it for a few days I noticed the difference! 5:)
It would also mean you'd have it tested before rolling it into a 5.3 release. Thanks again...

As a temporary work-around, I think crashes will be avoided if you set the "/apps/mail-notification/display-seen-mail" GConf key to true, and if you refrain from using the "Consider new mail as read" feature.

Thanks,

Unfortunately I only have gob2-2.0.15, and I wasn't easily able to track down your patches. Could you please point me in their direction as well?
Sorry for all the trouble...

You don't need gob, the generated files are included in the patch. If jb insists on requiring gob, touch the generated files (touch build/src/*) after applying the patch.

Thanks, it was requesting to rebuild the files, but touching them worked just fine.

The patches applied fine, compilation went fine, and mail-notification is still running (been about half a day) with a few messages marked as 'considered read'. I'll let you know if I run into any further trouble, otherwise this looks like a good fix. Thanks again! 5:)
