Mail Notification applet crashes when no new messages

Bug Description

I use the applet to monitor three mailboxes in Thunderbird with file:/// (Mozilla mailboxes) on Linux Mint 17. Popups are disabled.

When the total message count is > 0, everything works properly.
When I read all messages, so that the message count reaches 0, the icon turns black and the applet is frozen. I have to kill it manually from command line.

This also occurs if I start the applet before the encrypted drive is mounted (mail files are there).

The only workaround is to keep a dummy message and never read it, so that the minimum count is 1.

This is easily reproducible on a fresh Linux Mint 17 install (Cinnamon, 64bit).

This bug makes the applet totally UNUSABLE... I wish I could keep using it though, it is my favorite notification tool.
