We'll look at the normal GoogleDocs block to see if we can fix that (or whether it has already been fixed in bug #843588) in 1.4.1.

The other one is more of a feature request so it would wait until the next release at least.

I would like the PDF to show up in Mahara, but when I put this URL in
it simply doesn’t show.

Also the normal GoogleDocs block is broken because the URL google
provides is BROKEN!

For example:

I uploaded this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EQUAo9tRk6QXAgS6NAl9YaawZt6DfEgcDryK2GmLjx0/edit?hl=en_US

I copied this document from somewhere on the internet and have reshared it, but I cannot republish it: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=1CIfh5ZZWUgaFitCXNjXWfkAMG8weXU9YndNXaJDwGIaNRP8jQPQKJvPy2KWj&hl=en_US (URLs for documents saved from emails also look like this).

There are also different URLs for clicking through to the document that's attached to an email someone receives with gmail, and they contain identity information.

Can you tell me more about how your document got to your docs account?

I believe I typed this up in the googls docs system years ago.
It seems the Collaborate->Share function gives this link:

If I publish a document and restrict access to it to people logged into google accounts within my google apps domain account, I get a URL looking like:

https://docs.google.com/a/meldraweb.com/document/pub?id=1ewGfdw21Xd7-pQS299C4wFJptEj_I4pgXLSlI2qKJsc

The URL you have offered looks similar:

Did you remove something from the URL after the "/a/" bit, or is this exactly how google gave it to you?

This link is how Google gave it to me, and to be honest I don't remember adding it as belonging to a google apps hosted domain - I don't have one :)

So why Google gave me this address is curious.

But how about this: I just stopped publishing it, then restarted publishing it, this is the new URL:

Additional information: When you upload a PDF document to share it, you need to enable the conversion into Google Docs in order to be able to publish it on the web.

Add another new google doc url formats (bug #856130)

    Google keeps spitting out different urls to their users. Our users
    aren't going to understand how to massage these to the correct
    format, so we have to try keep up. Bad google, bad.
