Bug Description

No idea why you guys have shrunk the text editor to a tiny window which you cannot even enlarge. I am having major trouble with this as any reasonable editing becomes a challenge. Will there be the possibility like in Moodle to switch to large window where you have all the features andreally get the WYSIWYG feeling ;-)
Would be awesome.

Hi Sigi

Could you attach a screenshot of the tiny editor and let us know what browser and version you are using?

Thanks
Darryl

Try putting this in your config.php:

  $cfg->blockeditormaxwidth = true;

(maybe this should be enabled by default)

Changed in mahara:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Medium

Hi Darryl,
thanks for your quick reaction. I made ajing screenshot
<http://screencast.com/t/z4nrepcnk> and you see, that if you really want
to do something reasonable, the editor is tiny. As far as I rememebr - I
may be wrong - the editor was larger in the previous versions. I am on
Mahara version 1.3.3 (2010083110 and the latest Firefox version. Hope
that helps.

Thanks and cheers

Francois, your code snipped gives me a huge text editor window now across the entire screen (haven't tested it on my 22" one yet) when I insert a text box.

However, it keeps the editor window for journal entries etc. the size that they were before and you can't change it.

Was the resizable TinyMCE editor functionality taken out because it caused trouble in the browsers after an update of TinyMCE?

Yeah, we have disabled auto-resize in 651fcdba81 due to bug #791854. There
was no time to resolve it properly before release. Probably it is a good
time to look into the problem again.

By the way Siggi, you should upgrade your version of Mahara as soon as possible since we have fixed several critical security vulnerabilities in the later 1.3 versions.
