Can groups have a blog which all (or some) of the group members can contribute to?

Or can blogs assigned to a View have permissions set so that more than one person can add/edit blog posts?

We've done some work that has opened up this possibility (the shared artefact work). At some point, hopefully the ability for groups to have blogs will be added. Groups in 1.1 will have a files section and their own Views.

'The shared artefact work' sounds very promising. For all its social networking features, it seems that Mahara's current design is focused on a reflective, individual approach which doesn't lend itself very well to collaborative work amongst students. Multi-author blogs would be ideal but Group Views is a great (very usable) start. Thanks!

We are certainly going to do this at some point.

Current thinking is that we need to give artefacts the concept of an 'author'/'creator', on top of the three-column owner/group/institution structure currently. That way posts in a group could be owned by the group but authored by the individual people. Once this is done, group blogs are possible.

We'll have to deal with the changes this means for View copying and templates in groups/institutions as well.

The functionality that was implemented contains the following:

- Creating and copying journals the regular way
- Authorship is always with the group as is the case for pages
- Journal and journal post creation / editing can be restricted based on the "Page add and edit" permissions, for which we'll still need to change the wording.
