Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

The "Disable Touchpad While Typing" option works really well for me during Gnome sessions, however, it would be nice if this setting would be available at GDM login time. Currently, whenever I try to type my password in GDM the overly sensitive MacBook Pro touchpad reacts to my hovering thumbs and thus steals the focus from the password prompt. As you can imagine, this is getting old really quick. :)

This is not really related to the synaptics driver. The problem is that the gnome-settings-daemon is executed only after you log in.

affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) → gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)

not especiall but thanks for asking, it's just one of those thousand small issues we have registered it's waiting now for somebody to pick it up and debug but seems rather low priority on the list, most likely not something for lucid in any case

The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

This is still a problem in natty also. The good news is that it is already logged upstream by one of the gnome-settings-daemon developers:
