Bug Description
On a MacBookPro8,2 with Ubuntu 12.04 and the rEFIt boot loader, OS X (Lion) picks up the macfanctld fan settings on a restart.
Steps to replicate:
Boot into Ubuntu
Restart into OS X(without turning computer off)
Fans will run with Ubuntu settings
This is more noticeable when purposely setting the fans to run at a high speed in Ubuntu.
Note the problem only occurs after a restart. The problem does not occur after a complete shut down. I assume that the fan settings are stored somewhere (PRAM?) and get reset after the computer is completely shut down.
This could possibly be a feature instead of a bug.

macfanctld sets the fan controls to manual mode and then updates the fan speed every 5 seconds.
I would expect OS X to take control of the fan settings and initiate them to proper values at boot. This does not happen on my MacBookPro5,1 - perhaps a firmware bug in 8,2?
