Machines commonly appear in reverse alphabetical order

In the MAAS machine list (http://machine-name:5240/MAAS/r/machines), machines appear by default in reverse alphabetical order, as shown in the attached screen shot. Although it's possible to change to sort in forward alphabetical order by clicking the "FQDN" link, this is an added step. (I'm ASSUMING that this is a bug because forward alphabetical is the usual sort order for such things.) After switching to forward alphabetical sorting, that setting sticks for a while, but it will eventually switch back. This bug occurs in both MAAS 3.3.4 and in 3.4.0-RC1. Earlier versions sorted in forward alphabetical order by default, but I don't recall the exact MAAS version where this changed. As shown in the screen shot, the web UI is set to group entries by owner, with 50 machines per page.

Hi Rod,

Indeed, by default UI is asking for a descending sort by a hostname field
Not sure if it is intentional.

Need to check why we have this type of FetchSortDirection by default
