DNS resolution fails

During 3.3.1 testing we hit many runs where DNS resolution for nodes did not work. We have also passing runs, so it does not happen every time

    follow CNAME answers

    This resolves an issue with resolving rfc2317 glue reverse DNS records,
    which rely on CNAME DNS records.

    gracefully handle no DNS answer

    This solves an exception being thrown when an answer is not
    returned from the dig command. Without it, a key error is raised
    for queries without an answer.

    ensure cname results have a trailing new line

    This fixes an issue where multiple answers would be returned and
    one or more being an answer to a CNAME would get its trailing new line
    stripped, which should only happen for the final answer.
