Unable to view storage tab on controllers detail page

Bug Description
The controllers detail page shows how much space I have available on the controller over how many disks. However I can't view the storage tab like I can on the machine details page. This prevents the user from seeing which disks have how much space and hardware information.

It seems that in the UI the "Storage" tab is only hidden if the controller is in "New" status. I'm not sure why this is the case. Is this undesirable behaviour? Can you see any reason why we should be hiding the tab at all?
